If I were the Chairperson of Regional Coordinators

Himma Palembang

Sriwijaya University (called Unsri) is one of the University which has a large areas. Unfortunately, Unsri has a large area but not in a one location. Unsri area is separated and devided into two areas. They are in Inderalaya and Palembang. It makes Unsri has two campuses.

Having 712 hectares area, Inderalaya has been becoming the main campus of Sriwijaya University. Inderalaya is the center of every Educational Activities for Bachelor’s degree (S1). In Inderalaya campus, there are Burue of Administration, Academic and Student Affairs , Central Library, Lembaga Bahasa, Research Institute, Laboratory, and many others.

In Palembang , unsri also has many campus. The main campus of Palembang is in Bukit Besar. At that campus, we could find many Faculty and Study Program. This campus are destined for Extention Bachelor’s degree (S1) and Magister. But some faculty like The Faculty of Medicine, and Faculty of Teacher Training and Education have many study program, so it’s impossible to Unsri incorporate them in the one location. Then that faculty also are devided into some location but still in Palembang.

Our majored ( Mathematics Education Study Program ) is not only in Inderalaya but also in Palembang. That suggests, how much our member are. Remote Location makes us difficult to comunicate. It causes less silaturahmi between Palembang and Inderalaya. Exactly, it’s really bad for us. We are brother and sister, but we don’t know each other.

This problem began since Unsri has had campus in Inderalaya. Long distance changed us. But it successfully solve because of someone thoughtness, that it was better if we made a coordination. This was the little history of Palembang Region Coordinator.

Palembang Region Coordinator is not an easy posisition. This occupation is the important one and has a big responsibility, because it concerns a lot of people. Its task is to make a good relation between Inderalaya and Palembang , also deliver every single of infomation to colleger.

Mathematic Education study program has assemblage which named HIMMA. Himma also has a coordinator to assosiate them. Especially Palembang region. Because the main campus is Inderalaya, Palembang need to get a lot of information from Inderalaya, such as about organisation, event, and others.

Our leader of HIMMA’s Region Coordinator is Gumarding. He is from Mathematic Education Study Program of 2012. He is the good people, because he success brought Himma as good as now. He has prove his word. He have made great event like Halal Bihalal, LDO, Hi-Letra, and Himma gembira.

Becoming Chairperson of Regional Coordinators Himma Palembang, Gumarding became well-known by lecturer, colleger, and some organisation. It is some of the advantages what he has gotten. Actually, this position is not easy to reach as we have known. Almost everybody enthusiastic wants to compete and show his best to grip attention by others to get this position. Only for the one who trusted and able in this job will be chosen by HIMMA’s member.

If I were the Chairperson of Regional Coordinators Himma Palembang, i will do my best for Himma, i will toil and dedicate myself to carry on my task as leader. I will embrace both Himma Palembang and Himma Inderalaya, because i will be the connection between them. I wanna increase Himma’s reletionship, not as the member of the organisation, but we are the family named Himma. The way to be like that is cultivate a sense of kinship between us, more care, more compact , and more appreciate.

Besides increasing the connection, i wanna increase himma’s member quality. I wanna make some benefical activities like seminar, Math Intensif week-end, Surgery Math Problem,and Speak English to me. Math Intensif week-end is the program where there is a special day in a week for us to learn together about Math, where it is free for everyone who wants to study math in sure place. Whereas, Surgery Math Problem is a Quiz about math which is spread in Himma members, everybody has chance to answer it well and who is fastest and the most correct will get present and award by the committe. While Speak to Me is one of our work program that out of math, but it’s important for improve and develop an ability of Himma’s member, cause we need to pass SULIET well when we want to graduate from our major. So “speak english to me” be held in some place and sometime where it becomes english atmosphere for us. Surely that work program will be discuss with Inderalaya Coordinator (like the leader of Himma) first. I just wanna prove that Himma could be better than before under my tenure.

Well, They are some of my ideas n ambition if i were the Chairperson of Regional Coordinators Himma Palembang.
